Human Trafficking in general happens a lot throughout Asia. This is due to the governments being involved in corruption, taking part in organized crimes, and having a densely populated country. In the picture to the left, you can see that Russia and China have very high rates of human trafficking. Looking in the past, Russia and China have had lots of corruption, and it's still up for debate whether their governments are running smoothly today. Also both of these countries are densely populated making it easier for people to steal one another. These countries are not the only countries in the world to take part in human trafficking though. It happens all over the world, even in the United States, one of the last place you would think to see human trafficking. Human trafficking is a global issue and needs to be addressed immediately.

One of the worst part of human trafficking is the large statistics that some along with it. Human trafficking is a bigger corporation than people think, with $31.6 billion dollars being made each year off of another person sold away into forced labor or prostitution. That is only half a billion from reaching drug trafficking, valued at the highest making money per year. The people involved in human trafficking, 50% of the time, the person is underage, kids ranging from 12-14 years old, and 80% of those underage children are girls. These girls are sold to brothels or the commercial sex trade and forced to take part in sexual slavery. A main reason this happens is because a family cannot pay off a debt that they own, so the person instead takes their children in the form of money. This also happens in poor countries, when kids are promised good jobs far away, but are tricked by traffickers. Almost 50,000 people are transported into the United States each year from all around the world. If this is happening in a 'secure' country, then it's a problem that needs to be focused on as soon as possible, before another person's life is sold into trafficking.

Human trafficking does not just pertain to third-world countries, it happens in developed nations as well. Many of the people being trafficked are from the Asia/South American, and are being moved to North America. The United States, for example, receives many people trafficked from other countries that are used for forced labor and put in secret brothel rings. This needs to be addressed quickly, and effectively because if not, human trafficking will only continue to grow. Human trafficking has already been reported in all fifty states in the United States and more and more accounts are happening more frequently. If more people stand up and fight for what is right, then can we make a difference towards human trafficking worldwide. |
Human trafficking is growing by the second, and it can only be stopped by a group effort. Already, between 800,000 and 4 million people are in the human trafficking trade and those numbers are only going to increase if we keep sitting around. Almost every thirty seconds, a person is taken into the human trafficking trade, so lets not wait to act out. To repeat what David Batstone said, is that people just need to take one step in trying to solve the problem, and after that first step take another, and at the end of your journey, you will have walked miles. Human trafficking is just an inhumane way to treat people, and the penalties should defiantly be stricken to punish people that have taken apart in human trafficking.
